What could be more stunning than watching the Northern Lights from a hotel made entirely out of Ice? At the magical Ice Hotel in Kiruna, Stockholm that’s what you can expect. Rebuilt every year to a different stunning design, the IceHotel is an incredible once in a lifetime experience. Take a look at the pictures below to get an idea of what it’s really like, and then stay there with Euroventure!
Each “cold room” is individually crafted by ice artists, creating unique and beautiful designs every year. Check out some of the incredible designs that have been created in the last few years!
Once you’ve arrived in the stunning wilderness of Lapland, there’s a huge variety of traditional tours and activities on offer starting from the hotel. You can try your hand at anything from Dogsledding to Ice Carving, Sami Reindeer tours to photography courses to really give you a taste of traditional Scandi life. All of these are available to book with Euroventure as part of your trip, or once you arrive!
The Northern Lights are one of the biggest draws to the arctic circle, and from the IceHotel you’ve got a great chance of getting an unspoilt view of them in all their glory. The hotel only opens during the coldest and darkest phase of the year. This is called “Polar Night”, describing the time that the sun barely rises and the moonlit snow creates a magical blue glow, perfect for taking a night time trip to see the lights.
Come spring, the beautiful designs are left to melt back into the ground, waiting for next year when more ice can be harvested from the Torne river and turned into the original Ice Hotel once again…
Inspired? We don’t blame you… Visit the IceHotel every year between mid December and March with our Lapland Adventure, or create your own package to see the Northern Lights.
