Enjoy a therapeutic day of complete relaxation at this thermal lake, which is the second biggest in the world and houses a spa offering a number of spa treatments.
Train journey is around 4 hours from Budapest, car journey is 2 hours so it may be worth booking a taxi if you can find other people to share!
Eger, known for its historic buildings, thermal baths and red wines. Visit the marzipan museum, Eger’s 13th century castle and of course the Valley of Beautiful Women which is home to a number of wine sellers where you can taste, drink and buy wine.
Hourly and some half-hourly trains from Keleti with trains every 2 hours. The journey takes just over 2 hours.
Lake Balaton is a popular resort for locals and tourists. There are nearby beaches, volcanic hills and its amazing nightlife gives it the reputation for being a party town – however Balaton has loads more besides this making it ideal for everyone.
Taxi journey, which would be roughly an hour and a half, is the best form of transport to get from Budapest to Lake Balaton. You can also take the train from Budapest’s main stations, Kelenfold, Deli, Keleti and Nyugati.
