Start your Swiss Explorer route off with a quick hop, skip and a jump across the channel to Paris where the Eiffel Tower and a coffee on the Champs-Elysees await you. After indulging in some Parisian cuisine and a glass of French red, your next stop is the city of Zurich.
Check out some of the many Zurich lakeside watering holes and get lost in the pretty old town district whilst you search for the perfect coffee and chocolate combo – Swiss chocolate is famous for a reason! Zurich is great all year round but if you’re visiting in the summer, take advantage of the warm weather and have a dip in the lake.
Your next destination awaits in the mountains of St Moritz! Your first true Swiss apline stop for the trip. From the mountain tops to the bottom of the lakes, there’s a wide range of things to see around St Moritz, and if you visit in the winter, it’s a skiing paradise!
Now let’s take a ride on a very unique and special train, the Glacier Express! The Glacier Express offers a slow and scenic journey through the alps from St Moritz to Zermatt, with panoramic windows in each train cabin. At the end of your transformative journey, you will arrive in Zermatt, which hosts the most famous Matterhorn – also known as the ‘Toblerone mountain’.
Next up is Interlaken and you’re now well and truly into the mountains. This picturesque city has mountain peaks as its backdrop and is just a few cable car rides away from the Schilthorn summit – James Bond fans will recognise these views from the 1969 film, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
Staying there in winter? Get down to the Winter Wonderland ice skating circuit and show off your skills! Interlaken is also the perfect spot for snow bunnies, with several ski stations and resorts all within easy reach.
